National Science Day - Poster Competition, Essay Writing and Ideathon

National Science Day is celebrated all over India on 28th of February every year to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist, Sir C. V. Raman in the year 1928. On this occasion the School of Sciences (SOS) in collaboration with the National Centre for Innovations in Distance Education (NCIDE) and Regional Services Division (RSD), IGNOU announces a POSTER COMPETITION for its students and alumni on any of the following theme / sub-themes:

Theme: Science, Technology and Innovation for National Development
Sub-Thematic Areas
• No poverty / Zero hunger
• Good health and well being
• Clean water and sanitation
• Sustainable cities and community / sustainable agriculture
• Affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy

 
Certificates will be given for the three best entries. The best entries will be displayed during
 
Science Day celebration at IGNOU, NEW DELHI on 28.02.2023.
Eligibility: The contest is open to all IGNOU students and alumni.
Entry Limit: Only one poster per student.
Entry Deadline: February 20, 2023.
Poster Size: The poster can be horizontal or vertical, of A3 size (29.7 cm x 42.0cm) sheet with
margins (0.5 inches).
Submission: Entries in the prescribed format should be submitted through email or by
post or by hand at the respective Regional Centre of IGNOU.

In order to encourage IGNOU students and alumni towards Science, Technology and Innovation, the NCIDE and SOS jointly in consultation with the Regional Service Division are organizing  various types of Science, Technology and Innovation promotion activities in the University both at Headquarters and Regional Centres over one month starting on February 01, 2023 and concluding on February 28, 2023. The National Science Day celebration programmes were inaugurated by the Pro-Vice Chancellors, Prof. Satyakam and Prof. Srikant Mohapatra on February 01, 2023.

During this month following activities are being organized for IGNOU students and Alumni aimed at developing scientific temper, creativity and innovative mindset :

1.Poster Making Competition on Science, Technology and Innovation for National Development.

2.Essay Writing Competition on Science and Technology enabled Innovation for Development.

3.Ideathon – An Innovative Idea competition to promote Science and Technology for Societal Development.

The winners will be given awards at Regional Centre level as well as at the Headquarters level and Certificate of Participation will be given to all. The last date for submitting the entries is February 20, 2023.
