On successful completion of the tenure as Director, Regional Services Division (May 12, 2018– May 11, 2021) Dr. M Shanmugam has been posted as Regional Director , Regional Centre Madurai with effect from 12.05.2021. Dr. Shanmugam has a vast experience of more than 25 years in Open and Distance Learning System specialised in learner support services. He has held the position of Regional Director of IGNOU at different Regional centres viz. Ahmedabad(Gujarat), Mumbai(Maharashtra), Cochin(Kerala), Madurai(TamilNadu) and Vadakara(Kerala) in the past. He has been the member of Planning Board, Member of Academic Council and Member Secretary, Student Service Committee and contributed significantly towards planning and implementation of policy matters pertaining to quality learner support system of IGNOU. Dr. Shanmugam earned his Ph.D (Statistics) in 1992 from Gujarat University Ahmedabad and published number of research articles in statistics and distance education. His Brief bio-data is attached.
